Deferred Regex Rules

• A regex is executed automatically if it’s in boolean, numeric, or string context.

• Otherwise, it’s a deferred regexp.

  • my $foo = / ... /;

• Also:

  • my $foo = rx/ ... /; my $foo = rule { ... };

• It’s a reference to a regexp object.

• /.../ is short for rx/.../, not for m/.../.

• Forced evaluation:

  • $foo = +/ ... /; # counts matches
